Role & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development, maintenance, and installation of all controls and automation equipment for the Plant.
  • Responsible for all modifications made to automation/controls programming, software, and HMI’s
  • Responsible for leading, developing, and motivating an technical crew that is responsible for the maintenance and installation of all electrical equipment for the Plant.
  • Responsible for training, coaching, developing, and retaining competent employees to ensure appropriate depth and skill proficiency.
  • Accountable for maintaining high levels of crew safety performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts within controls and electrical functions.
  • Execution of the Plant RPM program. 
  • Develop and execute the preventative maintenance program for all electrical equipment and direct the use of this program for inspections and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for all motors and electrical systems to facilitate prompt troubleshooting and maintain plant production capacity.
  • Design of new electrical installations and control circuits and performs the necessary layout work for all new installation.
  • Responsible for collaborating with other plant functions as needed to ensure optimum coordination of activities.
  • Engage employees in pursuit of a positive and productive work environment
  • Maintain and become proficient in all aspects of controls and have specialized training in the Valmet DCS system.
  • Keep abreast of technical developments within the papermaking industry to recommend process improvements.
 
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Proven electrical maintenance experience
  • Safety-first mentality.
  • A strong understanding of the RPM/EAM model
  • Advanced Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC programming experience using RSLogix
  • Knowledge of Panelview connection and modification using RSView or FactoryTalk software
  • HMI development experience with WonderWare Intouch and Ignition preferred
  • Strong Ethernet IP, Profibus, and Analog communications configuration and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of variable speed drive configuration and troubleshooting. Experience with Yaskawa drives preferred
  • Must have the ability to read and modify electrical and process control drawings
  • Ability to configure instrumentation and bring online with a PLC
  • Associate degree, specialized education, or related training in process control and electronics is preferred
  • Working knowledge of the plant processes
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Proficient in required computer-based applications and diligent oversight of assigned administrative and record-keeping tasks
