GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

The Health Care Programs Outreach and Intervention Specialist will support services for Perkins students reported as "at risk of failing" and work closely with them to encourage academic success. Incumbent may be asked to perform a wide variety of tasks in order to support the colleges program efforts. Will be tasked with activities designed to improve the student academic success, retention and participation rate of nontraditional students in health care programs.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitor and manage a case load of students with high-level support needs in health care programs.

Develop individual learning plans for Perkins students in danger of failing.

Plan and participate in outreach initiatives for nontraditional students in health care programs.

Plan and participate in career exploration and career development activities for nontraditional students in health care programs.

Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Associates Degree required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience

One year of academic advising, tutoring, academic support or related experience (part-or full-time) required. Experience working in health care or health care related programs highly desired. Two or more years preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The ability to communicate and interact effectively with students, parents, faculty, administrators, and staff is required. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Experience working with Microsoft Suite, i.e. Documents, Excel, etc. Commitment to an inclusive, equitable, safe, and welcoming learning, living, and working environment for a diverse group of students, staff, and faculty. Mindful of and develops accessibility solutions that can accommodate all individuals to use GCC facilities without barriers, both digitally and physically.


Additional Information:

This is a part-time, one-year Perkins grant-funded position with anticipated annual renewal. Evening and weekends may be required.
